Progress Update 22 09 24

We have had yet another productive week with the lower rear roof timberwork being completed as well as the raising of an upstairs lintel. An internal wall in the bar area and the fireplace have been removed, increasing the size of the bar area. In the coming days the slating of the lower roof will be complete as well as the rebuilding of the wall below the bay window. Progress Update 09 09 24

We have had another productive week with the removal of the large trees in the car park; Simon Webster has generously offered to remove the stumps next week. We also had a number of tradesmen on site to provide quotes for future works. Next week the external painting will be completed which, we’re sure, will make a huge difference to the look of the pub. Progress Update 31 08 24

Share Offer total is now £264,750. The refurbishment of The Golden Lion is progressing well. This week, we’ve installed the new windows and French doors, sandblasted the beams and walls, and cleared out the kitchen. We also had two successful volunteer clear-up sessions, both inside and outside. We removed the ceilings, cleared away the sand from the blasting, and prepared the rear of the car park for solar panel installation and the tree surgeons’ work next week. Internal Clean-up 08 24

The internal clean-up of the pub began on Thursday 15th August with the removal of the ceilings, as you can imagine this made quite a bit of a mess! So, on Saturday 17th August we had two groups of volunteers clear the building of all rubble and rubbish. They did an amazing job as you can see from the photographs below: What a transformation:

Progress Update and Roof Repairs

Progress Update We are delighted to announce that share applications continue to pour in, and we have raised an impressive £204,000. Along with the COF grant, this funding has enabled us to purchase The Golden Lion, clear, and secure the site. Upcoming Work and Important Notices We will begin repairing the roof on Friday, 12th July, marking our first step towards making the building watertight. While this is a promising start, we still have a considerable journey ahead. It is crucial that we reach our optimum target of £420,000 to complete the refrubishment to a good standard.
