You may have noticed that sold signs have gone up at the pub. However, we have been advised by the estate agent that the pub has not been sold and the signs should be coming down soon. We will continue to keep you updated with progress as it happens.

The Ashton Hayes Community Hub Committee are pleased to announce that Cheshire West & Chester Council have approved our application to list The Golden Lion as an Asset of Community Value. We now move on to the next steps of the campaign to acquire the Golden Lion for our community. On the 12th of September 2020 The Ashton Hayes Community Hub Committee launched a survey to understand how Covid 19 may have impacted on our supporters and how the community’s views on the Golden Lion project may have changed since our last survey in late 2017. The survey was closed on 26th October with a total of 295 responses, more than twice the number we received to the survey in 2017. 74% of those received were from residents of Ashton Hayes the rest were from quite a number of different villages in the surrounding area. In our last communication the Ashton Hayes Community Hub Committee updated you on progress made with the support of our Parish Council and the engagement with Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) regarding our request for a Compulsory Purchase Order on The Golden Lion. Unfortunately not long after that communication was sent, the world was hit with Covid 19 and non essential work ceased across most organisations including CWaC. In our last update we encouraged those who wished to comment on the planning application to submit their comments. That planning application was refused on the back of the objections received by the planning department and its non compliance with numerous planning policies.
