We have again made great progress with the help of our brilliant volunteers. The electric, plumbing and insulation works continue but the main change is the completion of the courtyard area and pathway. The pathway connects the carpark to Kelsall Road near the phonebox, this provide plenty of parking and safe access to the Community Shop and Post Office. The carpark is not yet in use but we will let you know when it is safe to use the car park and pathway. On Saturday we had a small group of volunteers in to clear the […]

Ashton Hayes Community Hub Ltd. are proud to announce that we won The One to Watch Award at the Plunkett Rural Community Business Awards in London. To find out more about the award visit their website: https://plunkett.co.uk/rural-community-business-awards. While all that excitement was going on we also had a number of jobs take place at the pub. The CCTV was installed and the vaulted ceiling and joist repair works were completed. The landscaping of the pathway and beer garden began with the removal of the old brick stairs. We also had three volunteer sessions to install external wall insulation, they […]
We had a very productive volunteer session this week, clearing space for the solar panel battery installation and prepping for installation of the plasterboards. We also had some structural work done to the beer garden and the electrician and CCTV people had their final visit before first fix begins. Also, work began on the internal flooring. The best news is, that we now have a staircase so no more climbing up the ladder! Next week the pathway groundworks begin, the CCTV is being installed and the flooring work continues. We also have two volunteer sessions planned to clear old piping, […]
Another week of great progress with the structural, roof and render repairs now complete and some of our amazing volunteers removed the unwanted floor tiles; thanks to everyone who helped on the night. Next week we are holding another clear-up session to skip the rubbish that has built up in the courtyard and rear cellar. A special thank you to Peter Willis and his friends for coming by and clearing all the debris from the tree felling. Their help has left us with a clean slate to begin planning the space. Next week we have a number of tradespeople coming […]
We have had yet another productive week with the lower rear roof timberwork being completed as well as the raising of an upstairs lintel. An internal wall in the bar area and the fireplace have been removed, increasing the size of the bar area. In the coming days the slating of the lower roof will be complete as well as the rebuilding of the wall below the bay window. The biggest change has been the completion of the painting of the front of the pub; it looks amazing! You can now view photographs of the pub before the refurbishment started […]
We have had another productive week with the removal of the large trees in the car park; Simon Webster has generously offered to remove the stumps next week. We also had a number of tradesmen on site to provide quotes for future works. Next week the external painting will be completed which, we’re sure, will make a huge difference to the look of the pub. The lower roof will be stripped out and some internal structural repairs will begin. We also had another successful clear-up session on Monday and, as you can see, it was very dirty work! A big […]
