Update – December 2019

Please find below a notice released by Ashton Hayes Parish Council

A new planning application has been submitted for the Golden Lion site which would seem to be similar to the one that was refused by CWaC 6 years ago. It proposes that the building be converted into dwellings and that two more houses are built on land at the far end of the car park. For full details of the application go onto the Cheshire West and Chester website https://pa.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/online-applications. Under planning open ‘simple search’, under ‘status’ select ‘current’ and enter ‘Golden Lion’

If you wish to comment on the application open up ‘comments’ and enter your thoughts.

The Parish Council have requested an extension until the end of January to give time to prepare a response to the application. They will be reading the application carefully and talking to members of the group that has been attempting to make progress in the matter of the future of the Pub. The Parish Council will consider whether to convene a public meeting at some point prior to the consultation period.

Please feel free to express your views to any of the parish councillors or to Hugo Deynem our ward councillor. Our contact details are on the Parish Council website http://www.ashtonhayespc.co.uk.

As you will be aware it has been the wish of the community to retain the building as a public house and we and the pub working group have for a long time now been working with the council in an effort to secure the building and land for the benefit of our community, latterly through a request to obtain a compulsory purchase order.

We will keep you updated on progress as things develop further.
